What to expect from a shiatsu session
Each treatment is tailored to your individual needs, but typically an hour session would include an initial chat to find out about your medical history and what you would like to get out of the session. The treatments itself utilises different techniques, such as gentle pressure applied with palms, thumbs, knees, feet or elbows, stretches, rocking and joint rotations aimed to promote relaxed, invigorated state, improve breathing, release tensions and ease the flow of energy in the body. The treatment will also address any specific issues or wishes that you would bring to the session and we work with as much sensitivity as possible to make sure you get maximum benefit from your time with us.
Shiatsu is practiced on a futon on the floor or a massage table. You would remain fully clothed and we would ask if you could wear loose, warm, comfortable clothes including socks, cotton sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms are ideal.
